VISION will take place in Stuttgart from 5 to 7 October 2021


The next VISION, the world’s most renown trade fair for machine vision, will take place in Messe Stuttgart from 5 to 7 October 2021. The exhibitors and visitors voted in a survey by a clear majority (75% of surveyed exhibitors and 81% of surveyed visitors) for an attendance event next year. The new date in the odd year – in parallel with Motek, International Trade Fair for Automation in Production and Assembly – will be retained in the long term. VISION, just like top exhibitors from all over the world, also impresses with its varied accompanying programme.

New PCBP and PCHI OPTICS from Opto Engineering


Opto Engineering has added the new PCBPN013 boroscopic probe for inspecting small cavities from the inside, down to 5.5 mm available with or without integrated illumination and the new PCBP023 lens for 5 Mpx cameras.

Their new product is also PCHI023-AF, the hole inspection lens for inside inspection of cavities down 10 mm with a built-in liquid lens module for fast and reliable diameter changes, and the new PCHI023-MF that improves the manual focusing mechanism with a more user-friendly “FFL-like” lockring.


Both solutions can be used for inspecting holes and cavities and they are perfect for industries, such as food and beverage, pharma and automotive.

Vizi-AI™ devkit from ADLINK Technology


ADLINK Technology has added a new Node-RED app to its award-winning Vizi-AI™ development starter kit (devkit), enabling developers to drive action from machine vision artificial intelligence (AI) at the edge.

Developers can easily connect Vizi-AI to a variety of image capture devices and then deploy and improve machine learning models. Thanks to this, developers are able to harness insight from vision data to optimize operational decision-making and automate actions better, such as sending an alert when a worker is too close to unpredictable machinery or is not wearing the proper safety gear. Vizi-AI includes a range of pre-built Intel® Distribution of OpenVINO™ compatible machine learning models that can be used straight out of the box.

Basler MED ace Camera now with 6 MP and 20 MP


Basler MED ace camera series is expanded by four new models for Medical & Life Sciences applications. The USB 3.0 cameras with Sony’s exceptionally sensitive and high-resolution backside-illuminated sensors IMX178 (6 megapixels) and IMX183 (20 megapixels) are available in both monochrome and color versions. They all offer the Dust Protection MED Feature Set , which guarantees specific cleanliness standards. Like all other cameras in the Basler MED ace series, these models are produced, sold and serviced throughout their entire lifecycles according to ISO 13485:2016. What makes the models interesting for price-sensitive applications that also meet high demands for performance and quality, are the affordable prices.

The two sensors IMX178 and IMX183 are proven CMOS sensors from Sony. They achieve a frame rate of 59 or 17 images per second, depending on the resolution. Both sensors stand out with their rolling shutter and backside illumination technology.

A6780 SLS LWIR camera from Flir


Flir released FLIR A6780 SLS LWIR camera system, which makes it easy to measure temperatures of rapid thermal events and high-speed targets, making it an ideal for industrial, military, and manufacturing R&D applications. Because of its cooled, longwave Strained Layer Superlattice (SLS) detector, it provides faster snapshot speeds than other detectors for crisp images without motion blurring. Manual and remote-focus lens options guarantee flexibility to maximize the number of measurement pixels on the object of interest. Simple, single cable connectivity using Gigabit Ethernet, ensures complete camera control. Users can analyze and understand data faster than ever before thanks to data capturing in FLIR Research Studio software.

Thermal camera from Teledyne DALSA


Teledyne Technologies company is introducing a new member of the Calibir camera series – the GXF model – which is dedicated to elevated skin temperature screening.

The camera is based on the Calibir GXM. It is optimized for measurement accuracy and thermal stability in the human temperature detection range. The camera can be delivered with a VGA or QVGA resolution and different lenses to cover a horizontal field of view range from 24 to 70 degrees.

New version of smart camera series from HIKROBOT


HIKROBOT announced new update to their machine vision smart camera series. In comparison to the previous version, the new generation vision sensor-SC2000 Pro has better performance, for example, it is:
-More precise: the algorithm precision rises by 200%
-Super fast: it’s capable to capture image up to 100 times per second; it takes less than 5ms to process the picture
-More energy-saving: power consumption reduces by 20%
-More applicable to diversified scenarios: color recognition, high-speed inspection, 2D, positioning and guidance.

Firmware update of the uEye CP polarisation cameras


IDS released major update for their uEye CP polarisation cameras.

A firmware update enables IDS’s uEye CP polarisation cameras to determine the direction and degree of polarised light independently, through on-camera pixel preprocessing. Selectable image components visualize or filter disturbing light reflections directly from the sensor raw data and make object features visible even before the image is transmitted to the PC.

Specially developed algorithms ensure optimal output data for proven image processing processes. Just like a light switch, they simply switch off disturbing cross-fades and reflections in the image or increase contrast ratios of fine structures by visualising the degree of polarisation.


High-speed GigE cameras from Baumer


The new LXT cameras from Baumer Group with integrated JPEG image compression enable very high resolution and speed image capture over the 10GigE interface. This allows for example, 500fps for Full HD or over 1,500fps for SVGA. Data reduction in the range 1:10 to 1:20 is possible. Because image compression takes place directly in the Camera’s FPGA, the PC-based image processing system is relieved by compute-intensive image compression algorithms. CPU load, fire width and the required storage space are reduced. First models are still available in Q3/20.
